Fear: The Myth
Myth--Fear is False Evidence Appearing Real
No single principle stands without exceptions; avoid being simple. So, fear is bad; right? 'Not always. There are times when you should be afraid...very afraid. Your baby likes to crawl out the door, toward the street. Your teenage daughter spends late nights with a boy representing the most dysfunctional elements of society.
Most pharmaceutical solutions bring negative side effects greater than the solutions. Your tires are bald and you travel on wet or icy ground. Seek to be unafraid of everything--macho and daring--and you risk being impervious or insensitive to areas of danger that demand caution and evasive action. Pay attention to that tug in your stomach that warns you of danger. Examine the evidence and know when to run away--live to fight another day.
ACTION: Take this Power Pill All Week Long
List all the things you fear, in two groups--areas of False Evidence Appearing Real, and areas where you need to Fix the Environment to Avoid Ruin.
Deny, or overcome the first. Engage and execute the second...put on that child lock; coach that teenager; take natural medicine; and fix those tires, please.
