Remember when you were a small child and play was the most important
activity in your day? Those were days when stress was not in our lexicon
and responsibility was a heavy adult thing that others unsuccessfully tried to
load onto us. How did we ever buy into the grown up position of putting off play
"until we are done working"--only to find that we are never done working, not in
a year, not in a decade?
Many have grown to be big children, waiting to play, while carrying heavy duties until the day they die. Stop for a moment. If life is a game, how can you win if you never play...if you only work? Perhaps you cannot be extricated from your daily duties. Then play with your work! If it must consume your life, then make it the object of your play. You have a right to joy, freedom and laughter.Don't let "them" take it all away,
even if they "own" your time.
ACTION: Take this Power Pill All Week Long
1)Take off one afternoon/evening and dedicate it to play that brings
you enjoyment.
2) Seek out every way possible to make your work fun--just
this week, don't hold back. Your life may depend on it. The quality of your work
may depend on it. Having fun doesn't have to hurt your business...you just have
to be creative; perhaps have an ingenious eye and a slightly twisted streak. Play
and laugh out loud.
