2020 CHRISTMAS FOOD DISTRIBUTION
Giving....Is so much better than receiving. :)
Mother Teresa warned, “unless life is lived for others, it is not worthwhile. A self-centered life is totally empty.”
A writer wrote “ Serving others is never entirely unselfish, because the giver always receives.
Proverbs 11:17, Your own soul is nourished when you are kind, it is destroyed when you are cruel.”

FFC normally convenes an annual Christmas Banquet, but for 2020, Covid-19 changed everything. In the interest of safety, we adapted to a different formula that helped meet the needs of so many of our community members and volunteers, who were adversely affected by the many jobs lost, the downsizing and the many business closures.
So, for Christmas 2020, we had all hands on deck, to help feed those impacted the most.

2020 FAMILY & FRIENDS CONNECTION, INC. YEAR IN REVIEW
by Donneth Wedderburn - President/Founder
The year 2020 has been like no other year. There are so many words to describe it, both in the negative and positive, but I will reflect on the positive, as 1 Thes. 5:18 states, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Like most people and organizations we had great plans for 2020. I must admit although the plans that were in place chronologically did not happen as planned; we can attest that 2020 has been a fulfilling and satisfying year for us. We have helped more in need than any other year since our inception.
We were giving food every week. However, since COVID-19 we have intensified our service and have been able to feed between 45 – 65 families on a weekly basis. On special occasions like Mothers/Fathers Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, we were able to do close to 100. Our families are so thankful and appreciative of the quantity of groceries they receive each week. With gratitude they would comment “thanks for their blessings, it will be shared with another family member or a neighbor."

- Thanks to the following people who have helped to make our food distribution and services a blessing:

- Pastor Hutchinson and staff from Power of Faith Ministry

- Chef Joseph - CC&S West Indian Food Market
- Kaye Alridge helped to provide the food.
- Dr. Antoinette Rhoden from Word of Faith Healing Ministry/I care for monetary donations for gas and food to reach the names we provided on a monthly basis.
- Thanks to David Keller, owner for Alltool Rental.
- Angela Pryce of Dignity Memorial
- Patricia Dunmore and Cameron Blanchard (2015 scholarship recipient) always pitching in and never letting a moment go by without giving a contribution towards the food drive.
- Thanks to our Community Business Partners; Housing foundation of America, CMT Taxes and Accounting, Vilma McKay and our volunteers; especially, Dr. Carlene Whyte-McNee, FFC's Board Chairperson, Vernica Whyte, Rick Callahan, Heather Davis, Dennis Hinds, Jennifer Thompson and Diane & Delroy Sterling, who find time in their busy schedules to help prepare and distribute the food each week. They have done such a phenomenal job every week.

I will close with a verse of this song “Little is Much when God is in it”
Little is much when God is in it!
Labor not for wealth or fame
There’s a crown, and you can win it
If you go in Jesus’ name
With this being said as we cross over to 2021 we are determined to do more and to let small miracles become big ones, as we continue to serve those who are less fortunate and underserved.
We are asking each person to pause and reflect on the goodness of God. Cicero said, “A thankful heart is not only the greatest virtue, but the parent of all other virtues. I pray that you will find time to be more appreciative and more giving. Consider the words of John Wesley:
"Do all the good you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can."
I encourage all of us, IF you follow this formula, your joy will always be complete.
Be your best and endeavor to prosper...for a bigger, brighter, and better 2021
