MESSAGE FROM FFC'S PRESIDENT & FOUNDER

It is indeed an honor and a privilege to extend greetings to the Family & Friends Connection, Inc. Volunteer members (FFC), our board members, our partners, our supporters, and our website visitors. With your support and continued faithfulness, we will continue to have a positive impact, on the lives of each individual in and around the communities we serve, the different cities, the nation, and also impact the lives of people in other countries. United we stand with dreams and aspirations, for making our communities a better place to live.
FFC was founded in 2006, and although a relatively young Broward County, community based organization, we are a public spirited entity that seeks to empower the marginalized members of our community, through the direct delivery of "multi-generational" social, educational, and spiritual programs.
Far too often, we hear of families devastated by the economic downturn and are forced into a tailspin of uncertanities. Family & Friends Connection, Inc (FFC) is truly a support system to help families in their darkest hour. Our philosophy of "each one can reach one" is a model that all of our communities, and organizations, should incorporate daily.
At no other time in history have we seen, and experience such unique and drastic changes in the lives of our people. From politics, to technology, to economics, there are significant challenges that continue to test our daily resolve to maintain a quality way of life for our family and friends alike. More than ever, it is times like these when we must combine our strengths, come together as a community and help those among us who are at risk - especially our youth and seniors.
FFC is doing a tremendous job in this respect. Through our networking contacts we have assisted several community members with job placements, home ownership, mortgage modification, housing assistance for the homeless, financial counselling, after school tutoting, and other social needs. Thanks to our members, and some of our partners, we are able to guide people to the social resources that so many really desperately need.
The programs that FFC has implemented through our organization's educational and empowerment efforts, allow families to influence their own destinies and face these turbulent times with confidence and resolve. FFC is committed to making our community a better place to live. That is one reason why our support programs are designed through the provision of training and mentorship, with a mission to unify and uplift. FFC is a resource for families and represents a partnership between volunteers, cities, county and all those who serve to help the spiritual and economic empowerment of our various communities.
FFC's focus on youth development, specifically motivated the establishment of our "Realizing Your Self Worth Scholarship Fund". This points to the need for additional resources to ensure that no child is left behind. This fund awards annual scholarships to graduating youths, or graduating seniors, who will pursue post-secondary education at the technical, as well as four-year college and university levels. So far, this young organization has awarded fifteen scholarships that are helping to impact some young talented lives.
Education is important in today's world, and our organization is looking out for future generations, by investing in our children, as we prepare them to compete in a global economy. Family & Friends Connection, Inc. has accepted the challenge of that responsibility as an agent of change. We will continue to advance public welfare through the availability of services that contribute to the creation of productive members of society.
This valuable work is deserving of support and the key to this support is the identification of partners in the non-profit, corporate, and government sectors. FFC has been blessed to have partners who promote a unified approach to community problem solving and reflect an appreciation of the multi-cultural, and diverse society that strengtens FFC's unique appeal.
We are committed and are also very thankful to our community partners, without whose help we could not have accomplished so much. Though we cannot name everyone, we want to especially thank Florida Bible Church for the continued use of their facilities for our weekly, Thursday evening meetings and our many fundraising functions. 211 Broward is key, to helping us provide for the many social needs request that we get every week. Our many radio partners help us to stay on the air waves, so that we can provide the many networking solutions to the community on a wider scale.
Thanks to our radio audience via the airwaves and the internet. Your loyal listenership support keeps us going. To the many businesses in our community who always donate goods and money to make our fundraising functions successful, we thank you. Special thanks to our hardworking, committed, volunteer committee members and volunteers. FFC could not have done so much in the community without your unselfish input. We wish you increasing blessings, health, and abundance always. Thanks to you all.
As Lyndon Baines Johnson said, "The family is the corner stone of our society. More than any other force, it shapes the attitudes, the hopes, the ambitions and the values of the child. And when the family collapses it is the children who are usually damaged. When it happens on a massive scale the community itself is crippled. Unless we work, to strengthen the family to create conditions under which most parents will stay together, all the rest - the school, play grounds and public assistance, and private concerns - will never be enough."
Our children are our future and we need to instill in their lives, the positive hope, dreams and aspirations for the future and together we can make a difference. They are our heroes and leaders for tomorrow. We need your prayers, your time and financial support, so that we can collectively touch their lives with kindness and strength. Remember, it is necessary to fortify ourselves, so that we can grow and become more tomorrow, than we are today.
