FFC VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION NIGHT
SATURDAY, APRIL 30, 2011
Family & Friends Connection, Inc (FFC) thanks all of their hardworking, dedicated, selfless, caring volunteers, sponsors and community partners. To help show their volunteers who have been working with this community non profit organization since 2006, FFC recently held a Community Volunteer Appreciation Night. This event was held in room 102, at Florida Bible on Saturday night, April 30, 2011.
The occasion was marked with food, fun and fellowship. All of FFC's long standing members and volunteers were present to receive their Volunteer award Certificates and other accolades. The City of Miramar showed it's appreciation for the hard work that the volunteers are doing in the communities of Miramar, by awarding them with Appreciation Certificates. This was a big deal for these hardworking people, who are always willing to give back to their community. The award certificates from the city, made them feel special as they know that their selflessness did not go unnoticed or unappreciated.
The city of Miramar is home to FFC, and Florida Bible is home base for volunteer meetings which are held each Thursday at 7pm in room B-108. You can visit the Family & Friends Connection, Inc website at http://www.famfc.org to get a good picture of the organization and what they are doing in Miramar and surrounding communities. You can also send an email to encourage President Donneth and her team of volunteers. Because FFC relies on kind donations, you may want to send them a tax deductible donation to help them continue their community outreach work.

FFC's Young Hero, ten year old Carlisa McNee, received a special Appreciation plaque for her outstanding volunteer work, when she used her persistence to get medical attention for a fellow student who was suffering from respiratory distress. The young boy was taken to the ER and later hospitalized.
FFC also for the first time, awarded each member with their signature award certificates. (See Below) This was special and members relish the moments when they were presented with their certificates individually. It really does not take much to make FFC volunteers happy and glow. All they want in return for being so loyal and giving is a little appreciation. FFC got it right! There were some very happy volunteers in that room on Saturday night. They posed confidently with their award certificates with their name on it. Some gave speeches and recounted the journey from the day they first visited a Thursday evening meeting. That was a great feeling, as expressed by all who attended the event.
The speaker for the evening was Mrs. Grace Day, wife of renown Motivational Speaker, Business Training Coach and Sales Empowerment Pro, Alvin Day. She is a long standing member of the FFC organization and also a current Board Member. She spoke about the dedication, selfless giving, caring and drive of the members of FFC. She also mentioned that because of the heart of all involved, FFC managed to remain viable and survived the difficult financial times that have caused other non profits to close their doors.
She said 'Volunteers don't get paid, not because they're worthless, but because they're priceless.' ~Sherry Anderson and ' Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.' ~Elizabeth Andrew. This is very true of FFC volunteers, as the organization has no money in their account and rarely receives donations from community partners and sponsors of their very informative, weekly radio program 'Community Network Solutions' that airs live on local radio WAVS 1170AM on Thursdays 10pm- 11pm.
Mrs. Day was very complimentary of FFC's president and founder Donneth Wedderburn. She said that this awesome woman had this vision to empower lives and started this very low key, low tech organization with a few family and friends who believed that they could really make a difference. Five years later, after many trying times and exhausting days and nights, Donneth has surrounder herself with some very dedicated volunteers. They have caught on to her vision and are working hard to help her every step of the way to make this organization great.
