Family & Friends Connection, Inc
2012 Life Empowerment Conference
Life Empowerment At Its Best
Family & Friends Connection, Inc. (FFC) is trying to get the entire community empowered and that is why this successful conference was planned. This is one of FFC's signature events for the community. It is an annual event to benefit residents in Hollywood, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Miami Dade County and all other neighboring cities.
The Life Empowerment Conference became an annual event ton the Family & Friends Connection, Inc. Calendar due to the ongoing expressed needs of the community. The speakers were selected based on the many requests for help received throughout the year for community residents. The conference helps FFC to answer many questions in a setting that makes everyone present feel like they matter, and that their issues are relevant.

Friday, March 30, 2012, the first session of the FFC 2012 Life Empowerment Conference began after a late start, but was a success. FFC President Donenth welcomed everyone and Dr. Clarke of Yahweh Redeemed international opened the 2nd Annual Life Empowerment Conference with prayer.
The speakers were: Psychotherapist, Francine Walker, LMHC, who was very engaging, and made the conference attendees relax. She presented some powerful, but easy to understand information. She talked about stress and the different ways individuals can minimize stress in their lives, and how to get rid of stress they already have. She had the full participation of the whole room even the youths. The conference organizers were happy that she also volunteered for the youth session.
Life Strategist, Rodrick Walters, CPA, from The Upbeat Dad, who is also a FFC board member presented in his easy relaxed, down to earth manner. It is really good to have young men who are so willing to invest their time and effort into making other lives empowered.
Attorney Eugene Fitz-Ritson, leadership coach extraordinaire, did not disappoint. He left the attendees realizing that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to. He also offered to help them bring struggling projects into success.
Carlene Whyte-McNee, ARNP, Medical Educator who present Health Tips monthly on the Donneth Show on WAVS 1170am radio.
Odalys Arevalo, Life Insurance & Living Benefits Specialist, of Living Secure Insurance Advisers helped the conference attendees understand that life insurance is not only about what you leave behind, but also how you are taken care of if you become ill and require long term financial assistance. All the speakers were all lively, entertaining, and informative.
The Credit Analyst's presentation was highly anticipated and Joma McLeod delivered in style. She was able to impart some very important information for a Credit Repair Specialist perspective. She really made sure to let everyone know that credit repair is not just about cleaning up bad credit. She presented some really enlightening information. As a Credit Analalyst/ Credit Repair Specialist, Joma has worked both in the private and government sectors and is known for her ongoing philanthropic work with non profit community and local groups and other organizations.
The evening was especially delightful when the Yahweh Redeemed Youth Ministry Praise Dancers blessed the audience with a well received number. Everyone left the first session felling empowered to return for the second session Saturday
Friday's session left everyone feeling energized and ready for the Youth session on Saturday.

Saturday: Youth On a Mission
Saturday's Pictures

The 'Youth on a Mission' session on Saturday was supposed to be for the kids, and the youths. Surprise! The adults seemed to have had just s much fun as did the youths. Everyone showed up wearing white t-shirts and jeans. What was so great is that the discussion about 'bullying' had the adults reminiscing about their youthful days, and all the youthful headaches each of them endured. It was also a learning experience for the youths as they realized that what they are experiencing is nothing new.
Psychotherapist, Francine Walker, LMHC, delivered again. She was popular with the conference attendees, because she kept it real, and spoke in language that everyone understands.
With that realization, the youths were able to brain storm on possibilities of how to handle bullying, how to prevent it and how to help those who are bullied. The session was very informative and at times entertaining.
A youthful project was also born from all the discussions. Youth participant, and elementary school student Ms. Reid, sister of the FFC sound engineer, Mandal Reid, made a brilliant suggestion that inspired a project to be worked on by her and PRO in training Carlisa McNee. They promised to have updates for the next conference.
Shaneil Wedderburn presented a very catchy, entertaining rap, detailing how youths can motivate and empower themselves when faced with bullying. The session ended with information for the 24/7 helplines for anyone who feels they are about to hurt themselves or for those who need help with domestic violence or teen dating violence.
FFC thanks all of their loyal community professionals who volunteered their time to help make the conference a success. Thanks to all the hardworking FFC Committee members and volunteers, who so proudly performed their assigned duties to help make the entire week-end a smashing success. Special thanks go to Cecile, Marcia, Elaine, and the rest of the volunteer crew, who fed the conference attendees in style. 'You showed what community togetherness with dedication, and hard work can accomplish. Thank you so much for being such wonderful, unpaid volunteers.' said FFC president and founder Donneth Wedderburn.
