FFC COMMUNITY OUTREACH HOME
IMPROVEMENT WORK DAY
JULY 16, 2011
East Miramar, Florida
Family & Friends Connection, Inc (FFC), recently had its first official community outreach home improvement work day. The members showed up dressed in T-shirts with the organization’s name written in the front. FFC members are aware that their presence within the community, and the relationships they build, will result in trust for the organization, and increase positive changes among community members. That is part of the reason why the recent Family & Friends Connection workday on Saturday, July 16, 2011, was such a success. Everyone was in such a happy mood and the recipient of their goodwill, another FFC member was very happy.

The members of FFC really understand the need to give back to those who have positively impacted the organization’s work at the community level and beyond. The first recipient of FFC’s Community Home Improvement Project’s goodwill was PRO Debbie. Debbie had found out that one of FFC’s community partner who was helping members of the community, was having some financial difficulties. She did an investigation and found out that they were behind in several months rent and utilities, and that some basic services were discontinued, and the office was temporarily closed with no time frame for reopening.
She helped them with the funds that she had put aside to repair and spruce up her home and yard, in an East Miramar neighborhood. The recipient of her kind gesture shared the information with FFC’s President. President Donneth called a meeting after she realized where the money had come from help get the community partner open its doors for business again. She shared the information with her committee members and they secretly planned to make Debbie’s home the first project in FFC’s Community Outreach Workday. The announcement was made to Debbie's surprise at the recent FFC Community Volunteer Appreciation Night held back in April. Needless to say, that made Debbie very happy.
This is community volunteerism at its best.

Special thanks to the City of Miramar, Home Depot, Mr. Errol Chung, FFC committee members, High School Volunteers, and community members who donated materials and supplies, to help make the project possible.
