PRO Debbie Thomas-Brown presented a lively overview of FFC and lavished praise and thanks on the audience of loyal volunteers. She treated everyone as equally important in the journey that FFC is on. She likened the volunteers to the fuel that is needed to keep the FFC automobile going. The also invited those who cannot find time to volunteer, to give of their financial resources to get things done.
She also told the volunteers that volunteering can lead to better health and less stress, as volunteering to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves often cause us to look at our lives in a more pleasing way, and with more gratitude. She also said that 'volunteers are not unpaid because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.'
FFC President/Founder Donneth Wedderburn made an impassioned delivery of her president's message. She recounted times when community members call with financial difficulties and she could understand how they are feeling as she had similar experiences. She noted that those examples help to motivate her to get help for those who reach out.
She thanked all her loyal volunteers, especially her board members and committee members who support her vision, and help to make many programs FFC takes on possible. She gave thanks to her family including her husband of twenty two years, and her children Shaneil and Karena.
The Guest Speaker for the evening was Rev. Dr. Carreen Clarke, Senior Pastor of Yahweh Redeemed International Ministries. She is an FFC mentor, adviser and volunteer. She is a long standing member of the FFC organization and also a current co-host for FFC's Community Solutions' Radio program.
She spoke about the qualities volunteers bring to a community and how they make life less difficult for the people who they help. She also stated that volunteering is a part of Gods plan for human kind to reach out to others in need. She implored those who are not volunteering yet, to start, as that is favorable in Gods eyes.

What's in The PVSA? This prestigious award recognizes individuals, families, and groups that have achieved a certain standard – measured by the number of hours of service over a 12-month period, or cumulative hours earned over the course of a lifetime. The President's Council on Service and Civic Participation (the Council) was established in 2003 to recognize the valuable contributions volunteers are making in our communities and encourage more people to serve.
The Council created the President’s Volunteer Service Award program as a way to thank and honor Americans who, by their demonstrated commitment and example, inspire others to engage in volunteer service.
