You may have heard the story of the kid pushing a big rock up a hill. Another kid stood watching as he pushed and groaned, groaned and pushed. Finally the second kid remarked to the pusher that it was too bad he wasn’t using all his strength. Upset, the first kid exclaimed “are you crazy, I’m exhausted, I’m ready to collapse, what do you mean I’m not using all my strength?” To which the second kid replied “you haven’t asked me to help!”
Well Family & Friends connection is asking for your help. We have an uphill climb and we really need the help of some dedicated community volunteers to get the job done, right. We are asking you to partner with us so we can make an even bigger impact on more families and communities. Helping others is a part of who we are. It’s a character trait ingrained in us that has been demonstrated throughout history and makes us all feel proud of who we are and where we live.

1: Research demonstrates that volunteering leads to better health and that older volunteers are the most likely to receive physical and mental health benefits from their volunteer activities.
2: Volunteer activities can strengthen the social ties that protect individuals from isolation during difficult times, while the experience of helping others leads to a sense of greater self-worth and trust.
3: Those who engage in volunteer activities are less likely to suffer from ill health later in life and may be introduced into a positive reinforcing cycle of good health and future volunteering.
4: Even when controlling for other factors such as age, health, and gender, research has found that when individuals volunteer, they are more likely to live longer.
That's at least four more great reasons to become a FFC Volunteer!
