Love Gives

You Can Give without Loving, but You Cannot Love without Giving

He is face to face with wonder. Her eyes embrace his soul, her voice is soft like the petal of a rose and when she moves, it's earth shaking...captivating...breath-taking.  She melts him; she makes his heart race and he feels like a child again, full of wonder, dreams and playfulness. He falls in love with her mind altering, seductive presence, and his whole being ignites with electric charge, when he sees or thinks of her.

Now, there's not enough that he can give her...with free and flowing favor he gives her time and attention and gifts and compliments and more. And it brings him joy! 

This is the character of love.  Christmas exists only because Christ lovingly gave...gave everything. When you say you love someone--a spouse, a friend, a brother or your God--how do you know that it is so? Prove it to yourself by how you feel when you give to that person.

Refuse to play commercial Christmas games that hide you behind the money spent. Avoid routine, meaningless gift purchases that are merely expedient ways of saving face. Do not relegate your giving only to gifts that can be wrapped. Love. Now give yourself--your time, attention, kindness and money--because you love.

Unbelief Conflicts

If I admit to God existing, then it impinges on my autonomous independence; then I am no longer accountable only to me; then I must reconcile my rights and desires in light of His sovereignty. To shun the weight of this admission, otherwise educated and knowledgeable men choose to deny the reality of a God whose will should supersede theirs.  Hence unbelief and atheism become a pragmatic, convenient replacement for that which cries out for acknowledgment.       

Denial of God leads to dilemmas that must be shunned by the thinking mind: Living in a time identified as 2011 years After the Death of Christ; contemplating the original foundation of our justice system as the Ten Commandments; and feeling conflicted about the first five letters of Christmas. Oh...please give me a simpler Origin of the Species wherein order did not evolve out of disorder without an agent!

Determine what you will do with the notion that God is.   A) If you don't believe, go seeking to reconcile the uncomfortable evidences. B) If you do believe, determine how it will impact your behavior and being this Christmas.

--AristotleEvery real leader must also be a follower of someone. Every great leader must be a follower of someone great.  Nobody is endowed with all wisdom, knowledge and capability, therefore, be wary of the leader who no longer receives training, guidance or direction from anyone.

Many such leaders grow isolated from the people  and operate from a position of unregulated power, ego and subsequently, poor judgment and poor decisions. Such leaders may be in any field--business, social positions, religion or others.

In business, most Human Resource departments do not have training programs for executive management. In religious and other organizations, the same is true. This void often manifests symptoms such as: lack of accountability, poor management skills and dysfunctional behaviors.

1) Are you a leader? Then ensure that you call on resources that go beyond your own abilities and resources--follow someone you respect...someone proven...for perspective, advice and thinking.

Near God

It is Natural to Seek The Supernatural

Augustine:  "When people choose to withdraw far from a fire, the fire continues to give warmth, but they grow colder.  When people choose to withdraw far from light, the light continues to be bright in itself but they are in darkness.  This is also the case when people withdraw from God." Despite your busy-ness and frenzied pace, if deep inside, you feel cold, dark, or empty and purposeless, it is a likely signal of the need to draw closer to God. Associated problems are mere symptoms...seek root causes. 

A thinking person--excepting the most hardened of atheists--must agree that mankind has an undeniable hunger for the being called God. Even the atheist must watch out, as the more atheistic one becomes, the more of religion atheism becomes. I contend therefore, that you were designed to seek after God; so, growing distant from Him produces many negative effects--mental, spiritual and ultimately physical--counter to your design.  A higher purpose one cannot find, than moving close to The One of a Kind.

               ACTION: Take this Power Pill All Week Long
Examine your life in terms of its direction--moving toward or away from oneness with God...or perhaps, stuck in a place that is distant from The Light?  If you are moving toward, rejoice and continue. If not, think...what can you do today to step closer?

Thisis a glorious world...do you see it? If not, then you cannot be thankful for it. When last did you notice that oxygen is abundant and free AND your lungs still work? Perhaps you have never embraced the face of the majestic ocean or heard the forest sing. Or have you never seen a perfect ball of water perched on a leaf after the rain?

The US Thanksgiving season comes right in the middle of the hectic pace, pressures and problems of life and so it should. For a heart of thankfulness does not pre-suppose you have no pains. In fact, thankfulness may be that elevator you need to lift you out of the situation that tempts you to be sad, bitter, lonely, afraid, broke, envious, malicious, angry...choose a malady and thank your way out of it. Color Blind

Today I met a man whose son, Ken, tried to join the Army and discovered he was completely colorblind. Traffic lights work because the red is always at the top and the green at the bottom. With similar compensating logic, he had successfully negotiated all color challenges for 27 years withoutever seeing vivid colors--never feeling disadvantaged.

There are things you cannot do well or even do at all. Do they stop you from striving for excellence? We cannot accurately compare ourselves to others with capabilities we lack...any more so than Ken could understand the world of the non-colorblind. Yet all of us, flawed humans, are given  power to be great in some thing or other.

Politically Correct

Political correctness has its good points. It sensitizes us to be careful of the words we use--not to offend others. However, the detriments can outweigh the benefits. In a world of political correctness, words are not an authentic barometer of what is true and real. Therefore, in such environment, be cautious about trusting words of favor and approval.    

There is great virtue in being plain, open and transparent.  Political correctness is often a euphemism for varnishing or sugar-coating the truth--sweetened words that lead others to an impression that is false. Crafting words for the sake of social or political expediency leads to equivocation and prevarication--both blood relatives of deception. Beneath the language of diplomacy lies the real truth--the intention of the heart.

First, commit to telling the truth, but in kindness and considerateness. Second, before you completely trust someone in a business or political setting, get to know his or her heart--spend time with the person, research, test, engage in discussion and observe. The heart is the only authentic read of the true person.
